How I Turned My Dreams Into Plans

Hi there! How are you doing today? I’m feeling a little stressed but let’s be honest here, WHEN AM I NOT STRESSED!

Today’s post is going to be a bit more personal and I hope that it allows you to get to know me a little bit better. I’m going to be sharing with you how I took my crazy dreams and made them more then just dreams. I turned them into plans.

I’m going to start out by saying that I am a total dreamer. I’m the queen of my own little world inside of my head.

One of my life motto’s is “No dream is too big if you work for it”, which pretty much means that if you want something you have to put A TON of effort in first before you can even get close to it.

I’m starting to find that adults are starting to shut down children’s dreams under our noses. Do you ever remember when you were younger and adults asked you want to wanted to be when you grew up? My response was usually a ‘movie star’ or at one point in my childhood I even wanted to be a bunny equestrian racer (is that even a real thing....?) Adults would usually say things like ‘wow’ or ‘that’s cool’ and just brush it off as if they never actually asked in the first place.

I wish people would respond to the child’s answer by asking the child things like “What kind of movies do you want to be in” or “What’s your favorite kind of bunny rabbit”*. This would show the child that they care and value their dreams.

*if you asked 9 year old me this question I would probably give you a 10 minute long lecture about all the different kinds of bunnies in the world

Recently, I have been focusing on how I can take my current dreams (bunny equestrian racer is sadly no longer apart of the list) and turn them into real life plans.

This is how I did it:

First I wrote down my dreams under the following categories; Career, Wellbeing, Relationships, Lifestyle and Self-Growth. I wrote down things like:

-become an amazing brain surgeon

-discover a cure for Alzheimer’s

-run a marathon

-open a summer camp that embraces and celebrates dreams and adventure for tween girls

-learn to give more and receive less

Then I took for I wrote down and thought about for a very, very long time. From there, I prioritized my list and figured out what I could do right now in order to start reaching these goals. So here’s what I did: I researched programs that would allow me to gain lab experience before university. I started my training (again) to start running longer distances (my goal is 10km by the end of August). I even researched how to seek board approval for using a facility for my summer camp that the school board owns (it’s on a lake and there are cabins and it’s super cute).

I encourage you, YES YOU, to take your crazy amazing dreams and turn them into plans. Trust me, that first tiny step is always the hardest and YOU CAN DO IT.

Although your dreams may be big, they’re never impossible.

The Power of Believing

I think that we all underestimate the effect that believing in yourself has on your own life. Having faith in yourself allows you to face your fears and stand up for what you believe in and most importantly accomplish those amazing dreams that you have! Think about it like this:

'If you tell yourself what you want to achieve, over time you will get there'

'If you believe that you can, over time you will'

'If you focus on achieving that goal, over time you will accomplish that goal and live the life you've always dreamt of'

I know what your probably thinking....

BUT I ASURE YOU THESE STATEMENTS ARE SO TRUE!

I recently read this AMAZING article on how to manipulate your own mind (you can find it here: The Trick to Manipulate Your Own Mind ) And it really opened by eyes to the power of your own mind.

I think that our minds are very similar to a toddler (minus the poop and mashed peas) in the sense that they are very easy to convince. If you tell a 3 year old that snow is actually cotton candy, then next time it snows they will eat it thinking that it is actually cotton candy (LITTLE KIDS ARE JUST SO SWEET AND INNOCENT OKAY) And if we decide that we want to act perfectly fine even though we may be dying inside, our minds easily start acting like we are happy and okay, without questioning it.

You know, I really wish that everyone would just shout there dreams out on the rooftops so that we can all help one another reach them because that my friends, would be the most powerful and gratifying thing yet.

I also wish that people would realize that dreams do come true. I find that so many people just give up on their dreams because they think that they are simply 'unreachable'. WHICH IS SO NOT THE CASE!

Anyways, you can do anything that you want my darling because if you think you can, you can. I believe in you. I think that we are who we chose to be. Our own mind can be our worst enemy sometimes and no one is going to come along and save us. You just have to pick yourself back up again and again. No one is going to give you everything that you want. You have to go out a work for it. So don't give up on your dreams, they're a lot closer then you think.

Hello everyone! So for todays post I wanted to draw your attention to this post that I wrote and published back in July. It was my first 'real' post on my blog and it means a lot to me. It was written directly from my heart and I couldn't have said what I wanted to say any differently to this day. And without further or do...Enjoy!

Ok, so a few days ago I finished the book; All The Bright Places by Jennifer Nivan. Out of all the books I have ever read (and i’ve read A LOT of books) this is the only book that I legitimately have thought about for a good solid week. I can’t decide whether I like the book (aka I was totally balling my eyes out by the end). It’s just that the ending really takes you by surprise and gets you thinking about the seriousness of mental illness (it also makes you think about the power of true love).

The first thing I learned from this novel is that love can truly take you by surprise and it is wonderful. You always hear about those perfect, fairy-tale like couples but I think that the best kind of love is unexpected. You know, the popular, gorgeous girl who just happens to bump in to the geeky boy at school and they instantly fall in love. Yes I love that and this book is the definition of unexpected love.

The second thing I learned is that mental illnesses really suck. Like you just grass stained your brand new $90 Topshop jeans sucky. But the worst part is that you can’t just give people some magic pills and it will go away. Mental illnesses do not go away. They stay with you for a long time and no matter how hard people try to pretend there non existent, there still there. The only real way to treat them is to talk to people who actually know what there talking about. These people can help treat them. Ok so now your probably thinking everything thing’s ok, but it still isn’t. Many people with mental illnesses do not want to seek help because they do not want to be labeled as having an illness. This is where the real problem occurs. This book focuses on many outcomes of not treating mental illnesses, which really touched my heart.

Overall, what I’m trying to say here is that A: You should read this book because after really thinking about this book for 1 week of my life (that I will never get back) I have come to the conclusion that this book is indeed amazing. B: Some things come into your life really fast, even if you are not ready for them to happen, but you must still embrace them. Whether or not this may be unexpected love or maybe even a mental illness, do what you can to make the most of it (even if it sucks like grass stains).
