Hey.  It's me, Em.  How are you today?  Currently I have a full belly of pancakes (I'm such a traitor) and I'm surrounded by pretty stationary and colourful pens.  I'm pretty much in my element so I'm hoping this post goes well.

Where have I been?, you may ask, and the answer to that question is honestly way too long so here are just a few things that have been keeping me busy.

1) Christmas, because those cards aren't gonna mail themselves.
2) School and exams (duh.)
3) A super relaxing holiday in the Caribbean, but also the worst travel experience ever just after Christmas.
4) Completely changing what I eat.  Especially in January I have been transitioning to a plant-based diet and I am happy to report that I've strictly eaten vegan for 6 days so far!
5) Wanting to do all the things.

You see, #5 is really bothering me.  At the end of December I decided that my word for 2017 was going to be well.  This year I wanted to do life well.   And so far, I haven't been very good at this.  Once again, I've fallen into the trap of doing all the things.  I am repeatedly saying yes to everything and not only is it wearing me out, but it's putting me into a bad mood.

But, on a more positive note, I am back.  I plan on posting on here when I'm in a writing mood, or if I have a really good idea for a post, instead of sticking to a strict schedule.

But, since I haven't had any new content for a while, I am going to spam you with some pictures from the beautiful island of St. Kitts.  You're welcome.

This time last year, I was convinced that I wanted to be a lawyer.

I had my heart set on that pathway for many years, and I thought that it was the place where I would be in 10 years.

Now, a year later, I want to do something completely different.

And thats okay.

Because it is 100% okay to look at the big picture and say, hold on a sec, I don't think I want to do this anymore.

And actually, the more that you realize this, the better off you'll be.  The last thing you want is to be doing something only because that's what you've 'always wanted' to do.

I more I step back and see this, the better I can be at deciding what next, or most of the time, just holding on for the ride and seeing where I end up.

I'm preachin' to the choir when I say this but, it's actually okay to not plan out every aspect of your life.  Sometimes opportunities will just come along and take you by hand and you can't just stand there, so you go with it, even though it's completely different then what you had planned.

So, if right now, you don't have a clue what's next and you feel that your life is crumbling away, so what?

Does that make you a failure?

Never.

I actually makes you a real human.  Oh boy.

It makes you someone who can see themselves doing many different things for many different people.

It makes you someone who lives their life in the moment, rather then one dictated by what they wrote in notebook 2 years ago.

It's a bloody good thing gals.

In case you haven't noticed yet, life doesn't play by the rules.  It skips things, and cheats, and you just have to keep up and remember who the real boss is.

Happy NaNo writers!
Today I present you with my November goals.  Please excuse the fact that it's 5 days late, feel free to blame school, NaNo, and cardboard boat racing.


October was a crazy month.  But *thankfully* there was progress made on my goals.


Help Out More
Double thumbs up for this one!  I think I got in 20hrs of volunteering this month, which is awesome considering the amount of other things that were going on.

Visit The Tree Farm
CHECK.  On the last weekend of October my friend gang and I all went out and took pictures.  And oh my word, were they ever cute.



Bake Pumpkin and Apple Goodies
This might seem like a silly weekly goal, but I wanted to make sure that made all the yummy cinnamon, pumpkin treats at a time where it was socially acceptable (ie. fall).  This goal was definitely achieved.

Celebrate!
Two of my close friends had birthdays in October and celebrating with them was definitely a highlight of the month.  I just love birthdays!


Faith
YES.  Last month I spent a lot of time really digging into the word, and oh my, was it ever fruitful.  I think this is now going to be a permanent daily goal.

Make Progress on T.E.A.M
T.E.A.M is the novel I'm writing for NaNo and really want to try and put a good dent in it this month.

Simplify Before the Holidays
This one is HUGE.  Christmas is approaching so fast and I am not at all organized.  This month I'm hoping to get all my lists and notes in order so that December is less hectic.


Social Media Free Weekends
You gals seriously need to try this.  You pretty much log out of all social media on Friday night and don't log back in till Monday morning.  I absolutely love doing it because it allows be to enjoy the weekend without comparing my life to someone else.

This is written in big, bold letters in my planner.  In November I need to tend to my heart, mind and soul.

Okay so here's a story for you, and I give you full permission to laugh at me.  So I like to read the bible on the app that I think is called "Bible".  Anyways, so over the last three months I'm been trying to 'understand' a lot of the verses from the traditional version.  And then, last week, I discovered that you could switch your bible version to 'Contemporary English' which pretty much changes it to modern, everyday english.  MIND BLOWN.

Disclaimer: Please excuse the fact that I haven't put up a post in a very long time.  This post has been all ready to go for about 5 days and then when I went to make a cover image, Picmonkey decided that it wasn't going to work with my browser.  Ugh.  So I been on the hunt for a new editing website and I am happy to report that I found one that I like!  It's called Fotor, in case your looking for something new.


I'm about 50% happy that November's almost here because October is just a crazy month and CHRISTMAS. But I'm also 50% sad because November is always FREEZING, but not the fun kind of cold with snow and all that fun stuff, but SHIVERING, DEAD, LIKE COLD.

P.S The second post of my "August" series is *finally* going to go up on Saturday!!!

Okay, I'm going to be honest here, I kind of put off writing this post because I just have too much to say.  Like I still can't find the right words.
So here's go nothing.

ENGLAND BABY.
WOOT HOOOOOOO!!!

I got back on the 19th from 2 weeks in England.  It was great. So, so great.

I cried because it was so beautiful.  And I never usually cry.

Here's a lil summary of week one:

Day 1: I was a jet-legged lion.  We took the tube for the first time, and successfully got on the right train.  Then I fell asleep at 6pm.

Day 2:  We explored the cutest neighbourhood ever, Covent Garden.  Then later made our way to Leicester and Trafalgar Square which were breath-taking.  There was a man there making these huge bubbles and kids were running through them having the time of their lives.  This made me really happy.  I also saw Big Ben for the first time.  I cried.

Day 3: In the morning we toured Westminster Abbey, which was fun, but I personally thought it was made too 'touristy' for my liking.  I visited the fancy Lush store on Oxford Street where a worker washed my arm. Twice.  I smelt like bath bombs and fairy dust for the rest of the day.  And then I attended an Evensong service at St Paul's Cathedral (I even got to sit in the choir loft.  GOAL ACHIEVED)

Day 4: We toured Oxford and Cambridge University and to be honest, I didn't really love it.  Too touristy once again.

Day 5: MY BIRTHDAY!! I went to Brighton for the day, which was magical and beautiful and cute and AHHH I LOVED IT SO MUCH!


Day 6: I ordered an Acai bowl for breakfast but it tasted too healthy (please tell me you know what I mean...) and I couldn't eat it.
Cool story bro.
But we later had afternoon tea which made me feel super special and posh, so YAY for crumpets and biscuits!

Day 7: Toured Buckingham Palace in the morning (100% loved it) and toured the Warner Bros. Harry Potter studio in the afternoon.  For all you Potterheads out there, YOU WOULD LOVE IT AHH!
